Simon Sharp, the beloved son of Peter and Tamar and twin brother of Sophia, touched many lives during his 15 years. His dedication to the construction of a veterans memorial and his courageous fight against leukemia continue to inspire today. The video and Clarion-Ledger feature story on this page focus on his life and the commitment his family has made to raise money for the two organizations that came to mean so much to him.
Simon Sharp: A Remarkable Life The video presentation above was shown at the Chefs and the City fundraiser in November 2008 that raised more than $30,000 for the Simon Sharp Eagle Fund which benefits the Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children and the Boy Scouts of America, Andrew Jackson Council. The video was produced by Melanie Christopher Media Associates and WJTV News Channel 12.
Young man's tenacity and courage result in ... a loving legacy By Orley Hood | The Clarion-Ledger
What brought us to this moment in time began in 2006, at Boy Scout camp in Florida. Simon Sharp got sick.
"Night sweats," his mother says.
"The flu?" his father thought.
That was right before the Sharps left Celebration, Fla., near Orlando.
On a Saturday they moved to Jackson.
On Monday Peter and Tamar Sharp closed on their new business, the Fairview Inn in Belhaven.
On Wednesday, Simon, 14, was diagnosed with leukemia.
